# Rock Hill Schools Board Meeting Set for May 12 as District Closes Out School Year

The Rock Hill Schools Board of Education has a board meeting scheduled for May 12, 2026, at the district office, as York County School District 3 moves through the final weeks of the 2025-2026 academic school year with end-of-year ceremonies, awards, and graduation events on the horizon, according to the district’s official calendar.

The district’s calendar shows a full schedule of end-of-year activities across its 25 campuses. Sullivan Middle School has its 2025-2026 spring athletic awards ceremony scheduled for May 13 at the SMS gymnasium. Multiple campuses have 8th grade awards ceremonies set for May 27, and K4/K5 graduation events are planned for May 28 at St. Philip’s Catholic Academy School.

Rock Hill Schools serves approximately 16,493 students — a figure from the 2022-2023 school year — across campuses including Rock Hill High School, South Pointe High School, Northwestern High School, and Saluda Trail Middle School, along with numerous elementary schools. The district employs 1,260 full-time classroom teachers and maintains a student-to-teacher ratio of 13.09 to one, according to Ballotpedia’s district profile.

The seven-member Board of Education includes Helena Miller (Seat 2), Pete Nosal (Seat 4), and Bryan McAlinden, among others. Board members serve four-year terms and are responsible for setting district policy, approving budgets, and overseeing the superintendent.

This spring’s end-of-year schedule follows a school year that included significant extracurricular programming. Castle Heights Middle School presented its Alice in Wonderland Jr. production in late April, and Saluda Trail Middle School hosted a band concert on April 28. These arts events reflect the district’s emphasis on student programming beyond academics and athletics.

Rock Hill Schools is one of five school districts serving York County, alongside Fort Mill School District 4, Clover School District, York School District 1, and Lancaster County School District (Indian Land). The multi-district structure means that families in fast-growing communities like the Lake Wylie area or the Lesslie corridor may be served by different districts depending on their exact address, which the district’s school finder tool can help clarify.

York County’s growth has put pressure on all five school districts, which are each managing enrollment increases as the Charlotte metro continues to expand southward. Rock Hill Schools has responded with facility investments and staffing increases over recent years to keep pace with enrollment demands.

The next board meeting after May 12 is scheduled for May 26 at the district office. Residents interested in attending board meetings or accessing meeting agendas can find information at rock-hill.k12.sc.us. Board meetings are open to the public, and agenda packets are typically posted in advance of each meeting.
