# Winthrop Eagles Baseball Heads to South Carolina Tuesday With Longwood Series Ahead

The Winthrop Eagles baseball team wraps up its regular season with a road trip to Columbia to face the University of South Carolina on Tuesday, May 12, before returning to Founders Field for a three-game home series against Longwood to close out the 2026 regular season schedule, the official Winthrop athletics schedule shows.

The Eagles travel to Founders Park in Columbia for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch against the Gamecocks, one of college baseball’s marquee programs regularly ranked in the top 25. The contest is available via live stream, and Winthrop fans can follow through the official athletics website at winthropeagles.com.

Winthrop returns home to Rock Hill for a Senior Day finale weekend against Longwood beginning Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m. Friday, May 15, is designated Senior Day alongside a Bark in the Park promotional night, with first pitch at 6 p.m. The series concludes Saturday, May 16, at 6 p.m., all at Founders Field.

The Eagles enter the final stretch of the regular season having shown the ability to compete with Power Four programs — they beat Michigan State earlier this year, defeated Pacific and Sacramento State on the road, and swept Charleston Southern in late March. Winthrop went 3-0 in its Big South series against USC Upstate in April, winning the finale 6-5 in 10 innings on April 19.

The Big South Conference Baseball Championship is scheduled for May 20-23 in Asheville, North Carolina, giving Winthrop the opportunity to extend its season and potentially earn an NCAA tournament bid. The Eagles’ late-season form against conference opponents will be critical to how they enter the championship bracket.

Founders Field, located on the Winthrop University campus in Rock Hill, has been a reliable home venue for the Eagles throughout the 2026 season. The team opened the year with a 13-2 rout of Georgetown on February 13 and has drawn consistent crowds to promotional nights including Military Appreciation Night, Glow Night, Margaritaville Night, and the popular Bark in the Park events that allow fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark.

Winthrop Athletics Hall of Fame ceremonies, announced in November 2025, will honor inductees including Gary Baker (men’s soccer), Kandrick Cooper (men’s track and field), Emily Heckl (volleyball), Jeremy Keller (baseball), Kim Segars (women’s basketball), and former cross country and track and field coach Ben Paxton, according to Winthrop University’s athletics announcement.

The Eagles’ final home series offers Rock Hill fans a chance to say goodbye to the senior class before the Big South tournament. Tickets are available through the Winthrop athletics website.
