The York County Regional Chamber of Commerce, which represents nearly 700 businesses and organizations across Fort Mill, Rock Hill, and surrounding communities, continues to serve as one of the primary connectors between private enterprise and the county’s public and civic infrastructure as York County sustains one of South Carolina’s fastest economic growth rates.

The chamber, which bills itself as the largest in its SC region, provides resources, advocacy, relationships, and programming to help businesses capitalize on the county’s strengths — including its position as a Charlotte metro suburb with South Carolina’s lower cost of living, tax structure, and business-friendly regulatory environment.

York County’s employer base spans a wide range of industries. Rock Hill hosts headquarters and major facilities for Comporium, the region’s dominant telecommunications provider; 3D Systems, the Rock Hill-founded additive manufacturing pioneer whose corporate offices remain in the city; Domtar, a major paper and consumer products manufacturer; Schaeffler, the German automotive bearing and components manufacturer with a large plant in Rock Hill; and Continental Tire, which operates a major manufacturing facility in the county.

The chamber’s events calendar, hosted at yorkcountychamber.com, lists regular programming including business after-hours networking events, educational seminars, and advocacy days at the South Carolina State House. The chamber works in partnership with Rock Hill’s city economic development office and York County’s government to attract new employers and support expansion by existing companies.

Rock Hill’s most visible economic development project has been the ongoing buildout of Tech Park, the corporate campus district along Technology Center Way near I-77, which hosts LPL Financial’s major Rock Hill campus, York Technical College, the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center, and growing mixed-use commercial development. LPL Financial, the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, employs thousands of workers at its Rock Hill campus.

The Visit York County bureau, which markets the region for tourism and business travel, reported in its 2026 What’s New guide that Rock Hill’s Old Town is seeing new restaurant and retail openings, including a new bottleshop in the restored historic powerhouse near University Center. A Big Air Trampoline Park is planned to open in the Rock Hill Galleria Mall in the third quarter of 2026, occupying 30,000 square feet.

Pratt Industries, a major custom packaging provider, announced in late 2025 an expansion of its York County operations with a new manufacturing facility in Rock Hill, adding to the county’s advanced manufacturing base that includes the BMW manufacturing campus — the largest BMW plant in the world — just north of the county line in Spartanburg County.

The county’s population growth is driven by Charlotte metro expansion southward into South Carolina, with Rock Hill serving as the primary anchor. I-77 provides direct highway access from Rock Hill to Uptown Charlotte in roughly 25 minutes during off-peak hours, making the city one of the most sought-after relocation destinations in the Carolinas for workers seeking Charlotte salaries with lower housing costs.
