SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Winthrop senior Constanca Mendonca led the Eagles at a tie for 11th after the opening round of the Terrier Intercollegiate on Monday in Spartanburg.

The Rock Hill based program is competing Oct. 12-13 at the Country Club of Spartanburg in a 54-hole event with 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday on the par-72, 6,037-yard layout.

UNC Greensboro and Eastern Kentucky tied for the team lead at six-over 294 after round one, with host Wofford fourth at 10 over. Winthrop entered the week led in stroke average by Mendonca at 74.20, with freshman Avery Suter next at 76.40.

The field also includes Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian College, South Carolina State, Western Carolina and others. Winthrop returned to the Terrier Intercollegiate for a second straight season.

In the 2025 Terrier Intercollegiate, Mendonca led the Eagles with a tie for 19th finish, giving the program a local benchmark as it works through the fall slate after the Elon Invitational.
