HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Winthrop University women’s soccer team from Rock Hill, S.C., wraps up its regular season Saturday at High Point, with a 4 p.m. start at Vert Stadium and a long losing streak against the Panthers on the line.

The Eagles have not beaten High Point since Oct. 13, 2018, when an overtime penalty kick settled a match in Rock Hill. The Panthers hold a 17-6-5 edge in the all-time series and have won six of the last seven meetings, though last season’s finale between the teams ended in a 1-1 draw.

Winthrop comes in at 5-10-1 overall and 2-5 in Big South play, eighth in the league standings. High Point is 5-8-2 and 4-2-1 in conference.

Senior Monssi Avila-Gutierrez leads the Eagles with six goals, including a converted penalty Wednesday at UNC Asheville, and needs one more to match her 2025 total. Freshman Mia Ruffalo, the only goalkeeper on the roster, has been in net. Spencer Smith is in his 17th season as head coach.
