YORK, SOUTH CAROLINA – A chilling incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning in York County, which resulted in one person dead following a shooting involving an officer. The incident happened near the Alexander Love Highway, specifically between Lincoln Road and Highway 321, around 4 a.m., according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
However, the Sheriff’s Office has announced that no deputies were physically injured during the incident. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (henceforth referred to as SLED) has since been summoned to further the investigation -following the standard protocol whenever an officer-involved shooting takes place.
The victim of this tragic incident was identified by the York County Coroner’s Office as Charlie Baker, a 62-year-old resident of Clover, South Carolina. He was declared dead at the scene of the crime.
An autopsy and toxicology report will be conducted and are expected to be completed this week to help ascertain the details and circumstances surrounding Baker’s unfortunate demise.
