A heartrending road accident claimed the lives of four people, including two little children, late Friday night in York County. The incident took place on Saluda Road and East Highway 324, Rock Hill. A fourth victim died in the hospital on Saturday afternoon—they were initially reported as severely injured after the collision.

Identifying the Victims

The victims have been identified as 39-year-old Kristen Agard, 30-year-old Tionese Crim Hughes, and their twin daughters, three-year-olds Mackenzie and Mariah Hughes.

Recounting the Incident

As per the details shared by the York County Coroner’s Office, the incident happened when the car driven by Kristen Agard reportedly moved across the center line, causing a head-on collision with Hughes’ vehicle. Both drivers lost their lives on site. One of the children died during transit to the Piedmont Medical Center, while her sister succumbed to her injuries at the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

As initially reported on the day of the accident, there were two fatalities on the scene, with two others in critical condition rushed to different hospitals. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM on Friday, March 22nd, involving a 2019 Nissan sedan and a 2018 Chevrolet sedan colliding head-on. The subsequent impact led the Chevrolet to collide with a nearby 2018 Chevrolet SUV.

Identifying the cars and initial survivors

The drivers and passengers of both the Nissan sedan—involved in the fatal collision—and the Chevy SUV escaped the crash unscathed. However, the driver of the Chevrolet sedan and a passenger—both in the Nissan—could not survive the impact. The remaining passengers of the Nissan car were severely injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for immediate medical attention.
