The racial makeup of Riverwalk was 78.5% White, 14.1% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.1% from other races, and 3.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.9% of the population. There were 1,715 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, 11.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.85.
