Innovative Dining Concept Dank Burrito Scheduled for 2024 Opening in Rock Hill, South Carolina

Dank Burrito to Open in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Next Year

November 15, 2023

Dank Burrito, an innovative, chef-driven restaurant concept originating from North Carolina, is set to open its doors in Rock Hill, South Carolina next year. Situated at 343 Technology Center Way, Suite 108, the new location will bring fresh flavors and a unique dining experience near the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center.

Founded in 2014 by Chef Clarke Merrell of the esteemed 81 Hospitality Group, Dank Burrito began its journey as a food truck in Morehead City, North Carolina. The venture quickly gained popularity, earning the title of National Food Truck Rookie of the Year. The success led to the establishment of Dank’s first brick-and-mortar location in Morehead City a year later, followed by a second opening in Raleigh’s Transfer Co. Food Hall in 2019.

Famous for its unique blend of bold flavors, fine-dining techniques, and global street food influence; Dank Burrito offers a culinary experience far from the conventional Tex-Mex offered at other burrito joints. The restaurant is also well-known for its urban graffiti-inspired aesthetics, reflecting a deep love for hip-hop and global street culture.

Uniqueness in Concept and Execution

The upcoming Rock Hill location is expected to cover around 3,300 square feet, with 75 seats inside and an additional outdoor seating capacity of 25-30. The dynamic restaurant will feature five craft beers on tap, alongside a selection of canned beverages, seltzers, and wines. Promising a family-friendly atmosphere with televisions broadcasting local sports and a diverse music selection, the franchise is setting high expectations for its launch next year.

Expressing his excitement, Justin Miller, the franchise owner for the Rock Hill location, reported signing his franchise agreement the same day he sampled the full Dank Burrito menu at Morehead City in 2022. He further emphasized that menu offerings, such as the Danksgiving Burrito and the Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito, which combine scratch-made ingredients like salsas, slaws, kimchi, and guacamole, are a significant draw.

Looking Towards Future Growth

The Rock Hill launch marks the beginning of Dank Burrito’s expansion plans across other Southeastern United States locations, including Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Chef Clarke Merrell aims to eventually establish a brand presence further west.

The Rock Hill location, conveniently situated near the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center and Winthrop University, is expected to open to the public in early January 2024. In anticipation of its launch, Dank Burrito has encouraged prospective customers to download its app and enroll in Dankster Rewards for information about gift cards, dine-in options, and more.
