Fall is in the Air in Union County!
As we wake up to a beautiful day in Union County, the weather gives us a warm invitation to enjoy the outdoors. Today, we can expect some sunshine in the morning that will gracefully turn into a few cloudy spells during the afternoon. With a high of 83°F, it’s an ideal day to take a leisurely stroll or perhaps grab a coffee at a local café. You might want to keep an umbrella handy, though, as there’s a slight chance of a rain shower later on!
Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn!
Mark your calendars, because Sunday, September 22, is the official start of autumn 2024. Autumn in Union County is truly a sight to behold; the trees transform into a rich tapestry of colors that can take your breath away. Since moving here, I’ve been awe-struck every October as the landscape bursts into a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. If you haven’t had the chance to witness it yet, you’re in for a treat!
Come Enjoy Autumn Treasures!
This season also brings the much-loved Autumn Treasures event in historic downtown Waxhaw. It’s scheduled for October 12-13 from noon to 6 p.m. This charming festival is the perfect opportunity to gather with family and friends as the community celebrates fall with delightful crafts, food, and an array of activities that promise a weekend full of fun. And those looking for something unique should stop by the Waxhaw Woodturners’ vendor tent, where you can admire beautiful wooden creations crafted on a lathe. Plus, they’ll also be at the Waxhaw Farmer’s Market on October 5 from 9 a.m. to noon!
Community Connections and Updates
Looking to engage with the community? Don’t miss the annual gathering of the Union County Democratic Club, happening at noon on September 26 at the Asian Buffet & Grill on Independence Blvd. It’s a wonderful chance to meet your neighbors and discuss our shared goals for the community.
In the realm of culture, we wish Kim Norwood all the best as she steps down from her role as executive director of the Union Symphony. Having been an integral part of the symphony since 2007 and heading it since 2013, her contributions have left a lasting impact. Thank you, Kim, for enriching our community with your talent!
Exciting News in Entertainment
In the world of entertainment, Ryan Seacrest has been announced as the new host of Wheel of Fortune. Known for his charismatic hosting on shows like American Idol, he’s ready to take on this iconic role. Celebrating his 50th birthday next year, we can’t wait to see how he brings his flair to the show!
Sports Update on the Panthers
For sports fans, there’s a little drama brewing with the Carolina Panthers. It’s a mixed bag of emotions to hear that Bryce Young has been benched, with Andy Dalton stepping in as quarterback. On one hand, it’s tough to see a young player take a backseat, but the goal is always to win. Let’s hope this strategic move pays off for the team.
Wise Words for the Week
I received an inspiring set of tips from Coach Marcus Jones, and I think they’re worth sharing:
- Wake up early: Own your mornings for a positive start.
- Read daily: Feed your mind.
- Eat well: A healthy body fuels a healthy mind.
- Love yourself: Self-care is essential.
- Judge less: Aim for understanding.
- Be yourself: Authenticity is key.
- Set goals: Clear targets keep you motivated.
- Plan your day: Be intentional with your time.
- Stay positive: A good attitude yields great outcomes.
- Find your purpose: Knowing your “why” keeps you driven.
Final Thoughts
As we wrap up another week in this beautiful area, remember to take time to enjoy life. A little stroll to take in the fall air, or savoring a moment with friends or family can do wonders. Don’t forget to schedule those important health appointments and get your flu shots, pneumonia vaccinations, and any other shots due. Here’s wishing you a fantastic week ahead and remember how *fine* it is to wake up in Carolina!
