With talented players like defensive end David Walker, who is a favorite for the Buchanan Award, and a dynamic backfield with 1,000-yard rushers Shun’Derrick Powell and Darius Hale, Central Arkansas has the potential to make a deep playoff run this year. Chattanooga is another program to keep an eye on this year. After winning a playoff game last season, the Mocs have brought back a lot of talent on both offense and defense. South Dakota enters the season ranked No. 5 in both major preseason polls. With a solid roster returning, the Coyotes are poised to be competitive in the tough MVFC. They are looking to make the playoffs back-to-back for the first time and hope their experience will allow them to make a serious run.
Lastly, UIW is also on the lookout for a significant postseason showing. With quarterback Zach Calzada returning and a retooled receiving corps, the Cardinals look to bounce back from a semifinals appearance two years ago.
