Remembered for his unwavering work ethic, he held numerous positions throughout his life, including roles at Moss Supply Company, Ren Lefler’s Dairy Farm, and a local funeral home. John was known for his loving nature and ability to connect effortlessly with both old friends and new acquaintances, underscoring the impact he had on the people around him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Turner, a daughter, Tanya Lynette Turner, and several siblings, which has led the family to find strength in each other during this trying time. John is survived by his sisters, Flossie Darnell and Pat Kent, both from Rock Hill, SC. Additionally, he leaves behind sisters-in-law Kathy Turner and Sharon Mason, a brother-in-law Gordon Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews who are grieving the loss of their beloved family member.
The funeral service for John will take place at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle on May 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with visitation occurring prior from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association to support research and care for those affected by the disease.
Tanya Lynette Turner, born on May 19, 1962, in Stanly County, NC, was the only daughter of John Frank Turner and the late Margaret Owens Turner. Like her father, she has left a void in the hearts of those who knew her. Tanya was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Ruby Scott, as well as Fred and Mamie Turner. She was particularly cherished by her coworkers at the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction in Albemarle, reinforcing her ability to create meaningful connections in her life.
The funeral service for Tanya is scheduled at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle on March 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with visitation taking place from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. She is survived by her father John Frank Turner, her aunt Flossie Darnell, and several aunts and uncles, including Sharon and Gordon Mason and Cathy Turner. In addition to family, Tanya’s best friend Traci Blackwelder has expressed her sadness and will remember Tanya fondly.
