The adidas circuit kick-started its first July evaluation period with showcase and play-in games on Wednesday in Rock Hill, S.C. College coaches began evaluating talent for prospective recruits as they prepare for the upcoming basketball season.

Purdue basketball recruiting target Luke Ertel made a notable return, debuting in July after recovering from an ankle injury sustained during an NBA Camp. Playing for Indiana Elite, Ertel scored 19 points, demonstrating his health through effective drives to the basket despite facing difficulties with his three-point shooting.

Purdue head coach Matt Painter is set to kick off the live evaluation period on Thursday in Richmond, Va., where he will scout in-state forward Noah Smith. Following his appearance in Richmond, Painter will visit various events, including tournaments in Augusta and Rock Hill. Additionally, Purdue’s assistant coaches will participate in multiple tournaments this week, including Nike, adidas, and the Under Armour event located near Atlanta.

Key Performances by Recruits

Several Purdue recruiting targets stood out during Wednesday’s games. Bo Ogden, a 2026 wing target for Purdue, scored 22 points in his game, while Arafan Diane, a senior-to-be center who received a Purdue offer in June, made a significant impact with 22 points and 13 rebounds in Iowa United’s victory over Phenom United, drawing attention from NBA scouts.

Additionally, Jason Gardner Jr. and Cooper Zachary contributed 24 and 19 points respectively, aiding Indiana Elite’s 16U team to an overtime win against Garner Road. Purdue has already extended an offer to Gardner, a Class of 2027 recruit, and is actively showing interest in Zachary after he made five three-pointers in the game.

2027 point guard target Jaxson Davis is scheduled to compete on Thursday at 8 a.m. in Augusta, followed by fellow junior-to-be Isaiah Hill at 11 a.m. Kevin Savage, another 2027 point guard target, also impressed during Game Elite’s victory over Team Loaded, scoring 21 points with just one turnover.

Another promising prospect, Colben Landrew, who recently visited Purdue, had a commendable performance scoring 18 points.

Purdue is actively tracking various top recruits as they anticipate future roster needs and player developments. Among the recruits of interest is Canadian 7-footer Max Meyer, who has recently disengaged from the recruiting process after representing Canada’s 19-and-under team in Switzerland.
