Winthrop Hosts Appalachian State This Weekend

Rock Hill, S.C. – Coming off a three-game sweep of Maine last weekend and with a contest at NC State on Mar. 5 being postponed, Winthrop hosts the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a three-game series this weekend.

Series Details

The first game of the series will take place on Friday, Mar. 8 at 3 p.m. The remaining two games will be on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m. at The Winthrop Ballpark.

  • Riley Huge (Winthrop) vs. Bradley Wilson (Appalachian State)
  • Reese Lumpkin (Winthrop) vs. Jackson Steensma (Appalachian State)
  • Owen Sarna (Winthrop) vs. Dante Chirico (Appalachian State)

Series History

This will be the 26th meeting between the Eagles and the Mountaineers, with Winthrop leading the series, 18-7 and 15-4 in Rock Hill. The first meetings was Mar. 4 and 8, 1990 in Rock Hill. The two teams last met from Feb. 20-21, 2021, with Appalachian State taking two of three from Winthrop in Rock Hill.
