Winthrop University Prepares for Baseball Opening Weekend

The Winthrop University baseball program is thrilled to announce a host of events marking the opening of the season this weekend. With a series set against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, baseball fans in the Rock Hill area are in for action-packed entertainment.
Opening Night Dinner Celebration
The festivities kickoff with the ‘First Pitch Dinner,’ presented by Founders Federal Credit Union. The dinner will take place at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center on Thursday night, featuring a pre-meal social at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Provided by Melanie Rowe Catering, the dinner promises a delightful culinary experience.
Golf Tournament and First Pitch
The excitement continues on the field, as the baseball program will also host a golf tournament at the Waterford Golf Club on Friday morning at 8 a.m. Tournament participants will enjoy a fun-filled round of golf, accompanied by a polo shirt, and a lunch. With the first pitch of the season scheduled for 4 p.m. on the same day, attendees can enjoy a full day of sports events.
Alumni Tailgate
The weekend events conclude on Saturday with an Alumni Tailgate at the Winthrop Ballpark, starting at 1 p.m., an hour before the first pitch. The event represents a mighty reunion where past and present members of the Winthrop University community can reconnect over a love of baseball.
