Women’s Basketball Ends Season With Quarterfinal Loss To Radford Thursday Night

High Point, N.C. – Winthrop saw their 2023-24 season come to an end with a loss to Radford by a final score of 64-51 in the quarterfinals of the Hercules Tire Big South Women’s Basketball Tournament on Thursday night at the Qubein Center on the campus of High Point University in High Point, N.C.

Winthrop (14-16, 8-8 Big South) faced a tough challenge against Radford (14-17, 9-7 Big South) in a game where both teams fought hard.

Key Moments:

First Quarter: Jada Ryce got the Eagles on the board first with a three-pointer. Winthrop led 5-4 halfway through the quarter but struggled offensively at times.

Second Quarter: Nyah Stallings and Marissa Gasaway made key plays to keep Winthrop competitive, but Radford managed to maintain a slight lead at halftime.

Third Quarter: Winthrop showed resilience, with Leonor Paisana tying the score at 31. However, Radford went on a run to end the quarter leading 46-38.

Fourth Quarter: Gasaway and Stallings led Winthrop’s efforts in the final quarter, but Radford’s strong finish secured the victory.
