Northwestern initially scored midway through the first quarter with a long touchdown run by quarterback Xavier Means. However, Hough’s defense prevented any further touchdowns, recording 12 sacks throughout the game. This defensive effort was particularly notable given that Northwestern averaged over 40 points per game in the 2025 season.
Hough linebacker Ryan Peterson acknowledged Means’ running ability but emphasized the team’s collective effort. Peterson expressed confidence in the defense’s potential, highlighting the strength of the front four, linebackers, and defensive backs, including five-star player Josh Dobson, Jonah Holloway, and Sincere Day.
