SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Winthrop University women’s golf is back in action Oct. 12-13 at the Terrier Intercollegiate in Spartanburg, S.C., a Wofford-hosted event at the Country Club of Spartanburg that was shortened to 36 holes over two days because of weather.
The Eagles, based in Rock Hill, open Monday with an 18-hole shotgun start at noon and close Tuesday, Oct. 13. The Par-72 layout plays 6,037 yards. Winthrop last competed Sept. 14-15 at the Elon Invitational and returns to the Terrier Intercollegiate for a second straight season.
Senior Constanca Mendonca leads the Eagles in stroke average at 74.20 through two fall events. Freshman Avery Suter is next at 76.40, followed by sophomore Alayna Friedt at 78.00. The posted lineup also includes Lena Manssen and Eileen Zeoli.
The 12-team field includes host Wofford, defending champion ETSU, Appalachian State, Elon, Eastern Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian College, Seminole State, South Carolina State, UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina and Winthrop. Eight of those programs played the event last year.
Winthrop University anchors Rock Hill’s college athletics scene in the Big South Conference. Elon will play the first round alongside Appalachian State and Western Carolina. The first round beginning at noon ET Monday leads into a Tuesday morning round, with live scoring listed through Clippd Scoreboard apps used across the field.
In the 2025 Terrier Intercollegiate, Mendonca led Winthrop with a T19 finish, while Friedt and Zeoli placed T36 and T70. Monday weather is forecast sunny near 82 degrees with northwest winds 5-10 mph.
