ROCK HILL, S.C. — A late-night house fire on Maple Street in Rock Hill left one person dead and a second person hurt Wednesday, according to the Rock Hill Fire Department.
Crews were called to the home shortly before 11 p.m. and found heavy flames showing on the front of the house. Firefighters went inside while they fought the fire and carried one person out of the home.
Fire department staff and EMS started emergency care right away. That person was taken to a hospital and died there from the injuries. Officials had not released a name.
A second person managed to get out of the burning house without help. That person was treated for minor injuries and is expected to recover.
The fire marshal is looking into what started the blaze, and the cause had not been determined.
