Rock Hill Events
This Weekend
Spartanburg packs an events calendar that punches well above its weight for a city of roughly 40,000 residents. Six colleges—Wofford College, Converse University, USC Upstate, Spartanburg Community College, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Sherman College of Chiropractic—generate a near-constant flow of lectures, performances, and athletic contests. A High-A minor-league baseball franchise, a Korn Ferry Tour golf stop, multiple annual festivals, and a Thursday-night summer concert series give the Hub City one of the densest event calendars per capita in South Carolina. Something is on the calendar every week of the year.
The action radiates from Morgan Square, Spartanburg’s downtown core anchored by the Daniel Morgan statue, Battle of Cowpens commemorations, and street festivals. Barnet Park’s amphitheater hosts summer concerts and the July 4th fireworks, while Cleveland Park handles larger outdoor gatherings on the east side. Ticketed touring shows fill Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium and Chapman Cultural Center, which pairs theater, museum, and dance programming under one roof. Author readings and community conversations anchor at Hub City Bookshop. For live music, Hub City Tap House, Delaney’s Music Pub, and Indigo Hall own the downtown nights. Outside the city, Croft State Park—a former WWII training base—draws hikers and disc golfers, and the Cottonwood Trail greenway hosts running events. The Spartanburg Music Trail markers downtown honor native musicians Pink Anderson and Ira Tucker.
Spartanburg’s seasonal rhythm gives fans and families clear anchor points all year. Spring opens with the BMW Charity Pro-Am at Thornblade Club in May, a Korn Ferry Tour stop, alongside Spring Fling, the Upstate’s biggest downtown street festival. The Hub City Spartanburgers play their home stand at Fifth Third Park from April through September as the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Summer is driven by Music On Main—Thursday nights on Morgan Square—and Friday Night Live. Red, White & Boom at Barnet Park lights up July 4th, and the International Festival returns to Barnet Park each September. Fall belongs to Wofford Terriers football at Gibbs Stadium on Saturdays from September through November, with USC Upstate filling out the Hodge Center schedule. The year closes with the Christmas in Spartanburg parade in early December.
HERESpartanburg covers every corner of that calendar: downtown weekend roundups, free-vs-ticketed breakdowns, and family-friendly filters that flag kid-safe shows. On game days we publish parking guides for Hub City Spartanburgers games at Fifth Third Park and for Wofford Terriers home Saturdays at Gibbs Stadium. Last-minute cancellation alerts go out when weather affects Barnet Park concerts or Croft State Park trail races. We track food-truck festivals and pop-up markets, and we extend coverage into Boiling Springs, Inman, Landrum, and Pacolet so no neighborhood event gets missed. Chapman Cultural Center season schedules, Hub City Bookshop author events, and the Spartanburg Music Trail downtown calendar all find a home here. If it’s happening in Spartanburg this weekend, it’s HERE.
