Six Flags Moves Headquarters from Charlotte to Texas

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced Thursday, August 27, 2026, its decision to relocate its corporate headquarters from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Arlington, Texas, by March 2027. This move signifies a return to the company’s roots, as the original Six Flags park opened in Arlington in 1961.

The new central hub will be located at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, where a portion of the company’s employees have been based since 2020. A company president and CEO stated that consolidating personnel and decision-making in Arlington is the best path forward, aiming to enhance collaboration and strengthen company culture among executive leaders.

This relocation follows the 2024 merger of Six Flags with Cedar Fair, an $8 billion deal that established the combined entity as North America’s largest operator of amusement parks. The initial headquarters for the merged company was in Charlotte.

Six Flags operates 34 amusement parks, water parks, and nine resorts across North America, with five parks situated in Texas. The Arlington location places the headquarters near a significant portion of the company’s holdings. Arlington’s mayor noted the city’s long-standing efforts to facilitate this move, expressing excitement about the consolidation of the entire corporate group in Arlington.

The company has invested tens of millions of dollars into Six Flags Over Texas in recent years, including the July opening of Tormenta Rampaging Run, a giga-dive coaster. The Charlotte office currently employs about 155 people, many of whom will have the opportunity to transfer to Arlington. Carowinds, located in the Charlotte metro area, employs 2,700 workers during peak season, predominantly seasonal staff. Six Flags plans to continue investing in Carowinds and Carolina Harbor, with a new attraction, Rip Roarin’ Falls, scheduled to open at Carowinds in 2027. An office in Sandusky, Ohio, where Cedar Fair previously had its main offices and where Cedar Point is located, will also remain operational.
