ROCK HILL, S.C. — More lanes are closed on Interstate 77 in Rock Hill as South Carolina Department of Transportation crews keep two right northbound lanes shut down over Celanese and Cherry roads.
The closures sit between mile markers 81 and 82, where the interstate crosses Celanese Road, also known as SC 161, and Cherry Road, also known as U.S. 21, for ongoing bridge deck repair work.
SCDOT said the northbound right-lane shutdowns began Sunday, Oct. 11, and are scheduled to continue until Thursday, Oct. 15, pending any weather delays.
Crews have been repairing the bridges for about a month, and the latest lane pattern is part of that work. Drivers are asked to slow down and pay attention near the work zone.
Northeast Rock Hill neighborhoods along the Catawba River and Cherry Road corridor rely on I-77 for Charlotte-bound trips, so the lane pattern at Celanese and Cherry is likely to slow northbound traffic while the deck repairs finish.
