ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill voters who want to skip the Election Day lines can start casting ballots Monday, Oct. 19, at either of two early voting centers inside the city.
One is in the meeting rooms of the Holiday Inn Rock Hill at 503 Galleria Blvd. The other is the library at Clinton College, 1029 Crawford Road. Both are among six centers York County is running, with the rest in York, Clover and Fort Mill.
Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. each Monday through Saturday until the final day, Saturday, Oct. 31. State law keeps them closed on Sundays. Voters must bring a photo ID, and any registered York County voter can use any of the county centers, unlike Election Day, when each voter is assigned one precinct.
Alan Helms, who directs voter registration and elections for York County, expects early turnout to match or beat the June primaries, when more than 37% of South Carolina voters cast ballots before primary day.
For governor, every ballot lists Democrat Jermaine Johnson against Republican Alan Wilson. In the 5th Congressional District, Democrat Mallory Dittmer is challenging Republican Wes Climer. Further down, Rock Hill voters will see state House races and nonpartisan school board seats.
Election Day is Nov. 3. Sample ballots are posted on the state election commission website, and the York County elections office is at 6 S. Congress St. in York.
