ROCK HILL, S.C. — Fifth District congressional hopeful Mallory Dittmer is staging a Sunday evening turnout event at Fountain Park in Rock Hill to mark the start of early voting season in York County.
Rally the Vote is set for Oct. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the downtown park at 300 E. Main St. Sharing the stage are gubernatorial candidate Jermaine Johnson and House District 49 incumbent John King.
The program mixes campaign remarks with food trucks, a DJ from Harmony Luxe Entertainment, and music from Clinton College groups including the Collegiate Ensemble and the Sankofa Collective African American Drum Troupe.
Dittmer, who has spent roughly a year meeting District 5 voters, said people keep raising living costs and health-care access and that she wants that energy carried into the ballot box.
Statewide early voting for the Nov. 3 general election opens Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 31. The State Election Commission is telling South Carolinians to lock in a plan and check scvotes.org for sites and hours.
Fountain Park sits on Rock Hill’s Main Street corridor between Knowledge Park and Old Town and often hosts outdoor civic programs.
