ROCK HILL, S.C. — Voters around Rock Hill have turned out early in big numbers, with 25,147 ballots cast across York, Lancaster and Chester counties since early voting opened Monday ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
That works out to 8.8% of the region’s registered voters. Lancaster County leads at 10.7%, with York at 8.3% and Chester at 7.3%. Another 3,569 voters have asked for absentee ballots.
Those three days alone beat the full early vote from the June primaries, which drew 20,893 ballots in the three counties. The Holiday Inn site in Rock Hill has been the busiest in York County so far, with 3,780 votes.
The ballot includes governor, U.S. Senate and U.S. House races, along with legislative seats, county council, school board and local judge contests.
Statewide, early voting centers are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until Oct. 31. Voters can use any center in their county and must bring a photo ID. York County also has sites at Clinton College in Rock Hill, the Fort Mill YMCA and the county Fire Training Center in York.
