ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill High boys volleyball team is one match from a state championship. The Bearcats (16-4) take on Carolina Forest (23-8) on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Columbia for the Class 5A crown, the state’s largest classification.
Carolina Forest, from the Myrtle Beach area, earned its spot with a 3-0 sweep of Cane Bay, a five-set win over Socastee and a 3-1 victory against Summerville. The Panthers lean on Noah Pettijohn, a junior, and Chris Botse-Baidoo, a senior.
York and Lancaster county fans will have a second team to follow Saturday. Indian Land is also in a state final after Lucy Beckham beat Myrtle Beach 3-1 on Thursday night, setting up a title match between the Bengals and Indian Land.
Rock Hill brings four losses into the final against a Carolina Forest team that has dropped eight, but the Panthers have won more matches overall this fall.
