ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill-based 3D Systems Corporation said Wednesday that third-quarter red ink totaled $33.5 million even as sales climbed, and it sketched a modest revenue range for the current quarter.
The additive manufacturing company posted $99.3 million in revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30, a 9 percent increase from a year earlier. On a per-share basis the net loss was 21 cents; stripping one-time and impairment items left an adjusted loss of 6 cents a share.
Management said growth came from new printers, parts manufacturing and dental materials. Healthcare sales rose 14 percent year over year, while industrial revenue was up 4 percent, or 8 percent when software divestitures are excluded. Adjusted EBITDA turned positive at $3.1 million for the quarter.
Looking at the final three months of the year, the company projected sales of $100 million to $103 million. President and CEO Jeffrey Graves said the firm is concentrating on Med Tech, Dental, Aerospace and Defense, and data-center infrastructure as customers push 3D printing deeper into production work.
Chief Financial Officer Phyllis Nordstrom said cost controls and higher volumes helped lift adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization into positive territory for both the quarter and the year to date.
