Boyd Hill sits just west and south of downtown Rock Hill, with the neighborhood centered around Constitution Blvd and the surrounding streets near Boyd Hill Center and Boyd Hill Baptist Church. It is roughly 1 to 2 miles from the Main Street and Caldwell Street core of downtown Rock Hill, and it is closer to the I-77 corridor than to US-21. The area is inland from the Catawba River and Lake Wylie, with Manchester Creek and the older downtown street grid shaping nearby drainage and travel patterns.

Boyd Hill is an older Rock Hill neighborhood with a mix of early- and mid-20th-century houses, including mill-era and postwar single-family homes on small to moderate lots. Later redevelopment in Rock Hill shifted growth outward, while the older in-town streets remained in residential use.
